2007 - 2008 Hunting Seasons

These are meant to be used only as a reference, please visit Texas Parks and Wildlife for the official regulations and to view other counties.

Dimmit County Carrizo Springs (county seat)

Whitetail
Deer

 Open Season: November 3-January 20. Special Late General Season: January 21-February 3 (antlerless and spike bucks only). Bag limit: 5 deer, no more than 3 bucks, all seasons combined.

Archery Only: September 29-November 2.
Javelina No closed season. Bag limit: 2 per license year.
Squirrel No closed season. No bag limit
Turkey Archery Season: September 29- November 2 (gobblers or bearded hens); Fall Season: November 3- January 20 (gobblers or bearded hens); Spring Season: March 15- Apr 27(gobblers only). Special Youth-Only (Rio Grande turkey): Open season: March 8-9 and May 3-4; Bag limit: 4 (all seasons combined).
Dove / Quail

Special Season: September 1, 2, 8, 9 on properties within the Special White-winged Dove Area.

  • Daily bag limit: 12 white-winged, mourning and white-tipped (white-fronted) doves in the aggregate, to include not more than 4 mourning doves and two whitetips.
  • Possession Limit: Twice the daily bag limit.

Regular Season: September 21 - November 11 and December 26 - January 12.

  • Daily bag limit: 12 mourning, white-winged, and white-tipped (white-fronted) doves in the aggregate to include not more than two whitetips.
  • Possession Limit: Twice the daily bag limit.
